“I hear story after story about soldiers who return from serving in Afghanistan only to find they have no, or few opportunities for work or the means to start their own business. We love this island, and our country, and want to do anything we can to stay, but sometimes we can’t without a little help. I just want an opportunity to take care of my family.” –Israel Gutierrez, Army Veteran living in Puerto Rico.
Too many of our brave veterans have similar stories. As sad as it is that any veteran has to be concerned with his ability to make a living on top of the normal physical and emotional stress that comes from serving, the truth is that this scenario is more common amongst Hispanic veterans, as Puerto Rican and Hispanic troops more regularly serve on the frontlines and return to communities with fewer economic resources than many others throughout the armed services.
Our brave VETERANS shouldn't come home to find fewer economic opportunities! But, unfortunately, they do. In Puerto Rico, for example, a prolonged recession and high unemployment has made it difficult for even the most well-qualified to earn a living. Yet, given the vast amount of technical training and ingrained dedication and persistence, our veterans have much to offer as well as the will and discipline to do what it takes to succeed, but often lack the civilian know-how to implement their ideas.
We’re going to change that . . . and we’re doing it with your help!
In light of the upcoming Veteran’s Day, we’ve created a training program to offer more opportunities to veterans, so they can take care of their families and themselves, and also to help improve their communities.
In order to cover the costs to train the deserving veteran participants, we’re asking for a little sacrifice from the general public to help those who sacrificed so much for our way of life.
We know everyone can’t give a large donation, but do keep in mind that every little bit helps. For those generous souls who give a donation greater than $50, you’ll get the following to let the world know what’s important to you:
In addition, those super generous individuals who are willing to donate more than $300, will receive a complimentary ticket to our Veteran’s Day event, honoring our veteran participants, with special guests, national leaders, and celebrity speakers. It’s going to be an emotional, uplifting, and generous celebration of the lives of our troops and veterans!
Won’t you . . .
